Davis and Hope Win Final Women's Outdoor Weekly Awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions and selected via a vote by the conference's sports information directors.

This week's accolades celebrate a dominant sprint double from an Indiana Tech freshman and a versatile performance in the throwing rings from a returning Aquinas standout.

Track Athlete of the Week

K'Leigh Davis, Indiana Tech

Freshman K'Leigh Davis earns Track Athlete of the Week honors following a perfect weekend at the Mount Union Classic. Davis was a force in the sprints, capturing an individual victory in the 100m dash with a time of 11.95 seconds. She also played a pivotal role as the anchor for the Warriors' 4x100m relay team, which clocked a season-best 46.23 seconds to win the event. That time hit the NAIA "A" Standard and currently ranks the relay squad No. 8 in the nation.

Field Athlete of the Week

Maelie Hope, Aquinas

(Jr., Twin Lake, Mich.)

Junior Maelie Hope claims Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second consecutive week after an impressive three-event showing at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet. Competing against a massive field, Hope improved her national standing in the Discus with a toss of 47.10m, securing a second-place finish and a "B" Standard. She remained elite in the Hammer Throw, placing fourth with a mark of 54.34m (A Standard), and added a top-ten finish in the Shot Put (12.25m) to round out a high-scoring weekend for the Saints.
