Uvieghara and Stewart Earn Women's Indoor Weekly Honors
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
This week, WHAC SIDs have chosen Indiana Tech's Giselle Uvieghara as the Track Athlete of the Week and Siena Heights' Emma Stewart as the Field Athlete of the Week.
Uvieghara ran a lifetime-best 55.80 in the 400m to hit an A standard at the GVSU Big Meet. She was also a part of the 4x400m relay which ran a time of 3:48.10 to place fifth and hit an NAIA A standard in the process. The time is the fourth fastest in the NAIA.
Stewart continues her domination in the Pole Vault, winning the Centre Invite with a mark of 3.95m. This is an A standard once again and marks the third-straight and fourth overall field athlete of the week honor for her.
