IT's Uvieghara, AQ's Hope Earn Women's Indoor Weekly Awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.

This week, WHAC SIDs have chosen Indiana Tech's  Giselle Uvieghara as the Track Athlete of the Week and Aquinas' Maelie Hope as the Field Athlete of the Week.

Uvieghara ran a season-best 56.72 in the 400m to finish 8th at the Crossroads of America Invite and hit an NAIA B standard. She also ran a leg on the 4x400m relay that ran a B standard time of 3:53.66 and finished fifth overall in the stacked field. She ranks 12th in the NAIA in the 400m and 5th in the 4x400m.

Hope wins the Field award for the second consecutive week. The junior finished fourth in the weight throw (17.64m), fifth in the shot put (13.57m) and second in the 60 meter dash (7.6). Hope's weight throw hit an A standard and the other two marks were good for B standard to complete a stellar week. She broke her own school record in the 60m dash.
