Williams and Hope Earn Weekly Honors

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.

This week, WHAC SIDs have chosen Lawrence Tech's Latrice Williams as the Track Athlete of the Week and Aquinas' Maelie Hope as the Field Athlete of the Week.

Williams set a new personal best and school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.63, good for an NAIA B standard. The performance currently ranks her third in the nation in the event.

Hope claimed wins in the weight throw (58-5.25) and the shot put (42-10.25) at the John Flaminio Classic last weekend. The junior also won the 60 meters dash with a time of 7.62 which is a new Aquinas College record and a provision qualifier for the NAIA National Championships.
