2025 Women's Soccer Honors Released

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has released its season honors for the 2025 women's soccer season. Awards are voted on by each team's head coach following the conclusion of the regular season.

Offensive Player of the Year: Mathilda Berg Karlsson, F, UNOH

Berg Karlsson did it all for the Racers to help them earn their first regular season WHAC championship since 2019. The sophomore forward from Umea, Sweden led the conference in goals (15), assists (11) and total points (41) to earn her a spot on the first team and the Offensive Player of the Year award. She is the first UNOH player to win this award since Julie Cazanave in 2019. 

Defensive Player of the Year: Judy McIntosh, D, UNOH

A senior defender from Marli, Grenada, Judy McIntosh helped UNOH to a conference title and one of the stingiest defenses in WHAC play. The Racers allowed just six goals in conference action en route to a regular season title. McIntosh also got involved on the offensive end, scoring a pair of goals and assisting twice. She is the first UNOH player to claim Defensive Player of the Year honors since Kate Agyemang did so in 2019. 

Midfielder of the Year: Taylir Lynam, MF, Lourdes

Taylir Lynam becomes the first Lourdes player to earn WHAC Newcomer of the Year honors and just the second Gray Wolf to win a conference individual award. Lynam was stellar all season for the Gray Wolves, helping the team to a second place conference finish, its best in program history. The junior from Sylvania helped Lourdes to the third-most goals in WHAC play and the fewest goals allowed (4). Lynam played in all 15 of the team's matches thus far and finished the season with seven goals and an assist for 15 points. 

Newcomer of the Year: Catherine Hoff, D, Aquinas

 A native of Macomb, Mich., Catherine Hoff stormed onto the scene for the Saints this season, claiming Newcomer of the Year honors. The defender has started all 16 games for the Saints this season, helping the team to the allow just six goals in 11 conference matches. Hoff also scored a trio of goals for six points. She becomes the first Aquinas Saint to win Newcomer of the Year since Filippa Struxsio won it in 2019. 

Coach of the Year: Jackie Phillips, Lourdes

In her 11th season at the helm of the Gray Wolves, Phillips has been selected by her peers as the WHAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year. She led the Gray Wolves to a 9-1-1 conference record, good for a second place finish, the best mark in program history. Her Gray Wolves boast the fewest goals allowed in WHAC play and the third-most goals scored. Phillips had twice been named WHAC Champion of Character Coach in 2019 and 2021. 

Champion of Character Coach: Isabelle Danner, Defiance

 Defiance head coach Isabelle Danner was chosen by her peers as the WHAC Champion of Character Coach. This award honors coaches for their dedication to building character through sport via the NAIA's Core Values. This is Danner's first time earning this honor. 

All-Conference Teams

In addition to the individual honors, the WHAC named its All-Conference Teams, including an All-Newcomer Team, an All-Academic Team (for sophomores and above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA and in attendance at the nominating institution for one full year), and a Champions of Character Team consisting of one member from each team who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
