Cheney and Arendsen win Final Soccer Player of the Week Awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Women's Soccer Player of the Week Awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.

This week, WHAC SIDs have chosen Siena Heights' Parker Cheney as the Offensive Player of the Week and Lourdes' Samarah Arendsen as the Defensive Player of the Week

Cheney scored both goals in a 2-2 quarterfinal match against Madonna on Saturday. The senior also connected in the third round of a thrilling penalty kick shootout that eventually led to SHU punching its ticket to the semifinal round.

Arendsen continued her standout season, posting a five-save effort in a WHAC quarterfinal win over Lawrence Tech to advance the Gray Wolves to the semifinal round. The senior now owns 10 wins and nine shutouts on the year.
