Defiance's Walford Earns Final Men's Golf Weekly Honor

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Men's Golf Player of the Week award, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information departments and selected via a vote by conference SIDs.

This week's honor recognizes a historic performance at the conference's premier event, as a Defiance sophomore led from wire-to-wire to secure a championship title and a trip to the national stage.

Men's Golfer of the Week

Jordan Walford, Defiance

(So. - Thunder Bay, Ontario)

Jordan Walford claims Men's Golfer of the Week honors after a dominant, record-breaking performance at the WHAC Championship. Walford controlled the tournament from the opening tee, leading through all three rounds to earn medalist honors and an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championship.

Navigating the par-72 course, he opened with a 2-under 70 and followed it with a 71 and 75. His three-round total of 216 set a new Defiance program 54-hole record. With this victory, Walford becomes the first individual conference champion for the Yellow Jackets since 2016 and only the fourth in the history of the program.
