2024-25 Competitive Cheer All-Conference Honors Released

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced 2025 conference honors for Competitive Cheer following the conference championships hosted by Aquinas College on Saturday, March 8.  

Honors include: First Team All-Conference (10 members), Second Team All-Conference (10 members), Cheerleader of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Coach of the Year, Champion of Character Coach and All-Academic. First and Second team All-Conference, Dancer of the Year and Newcomer of the Year are selected by a four-member officiating panel at the event. 

Cheerleader of the Year and Newcomer of the Year: Ava Johnson, Rochester Chrisitan University

The 2025 Cheerleader of the Year is freshman Ava Johnson from Rochester Christian. Johnson becomes the first cheerleader in RCU history to win either award. Johnson is a native of New Baltimore, Mich. 

Coach of the Year: Amber Hauck, Madonna

Coach Hauck was voted by her peers as both the Coach of the Year and Champion of Character Coach this season. Hauck led the Crusaders to a fourth place finish in both the regular season standings and the WHAC championship. She was named Champion of Character Coach for best representing the NAIA's Five Core Values of: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership. 

In addition to the All-Conference awards, the WHAC also announced its All-Academic and Champions of Character teams. The All-Academic Team consists of sophomores or above with a cumulative 3.25 GPA who have been at their school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team comprises one player from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
