Sekinger and Hochendoner Named Baseball Players of the Week

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Baseball Player of the Week awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions and selected via a vote by the conference's sports information directors.

This week's honors break the recent UNOH streak, featuring a record-setting hitting display from Lourdes University and a dominant pitching performance from Lawrence Tech.

Baseball Player of the Week

Drake Sekinger, Lourdes

Drake Sekinger earns Player of the Week honors after one of the most prolific offensive stretches in conference history. Over five games, Sekinger went 14-for-19 at the plate, slashing a massive .737 / .750 / 1.053. His week was highlighted by an incredible feat against Cornerstone, where he recorded 11 consecutive plate appearances with a hit.

Sekinger totaled 9 RBIs and 5 extra-base hits (4 doubles, 1 triple) during the week, nearly single-handedly fueling the Gray Wolves' offense. His performance was so dominant that his season batting average jumped 100 points, rising from .260 to .360 in just one week.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Ethan Hochendoner, Lawrence Tech

Ethan Hochendoner takes home Pitcher of the Week honors following a masterful complete-game performance against Siena Heights. The senior right-hander went the full 7.0 innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run in a 5-1 victory.

Hochendoner was nearly unhittable, striking out 16 batters—an average of 20.57 strikeouts per nine innings. He issued only five walks and maintained a 1.00 WHIP, effectively shutting down the Saints' offense to secure a crucial conference win for the Blue Devils.
