Hockey Day One Recap: Top Seeds advance to Semifinals

DEARBORN, Mich. - (Tournament Page) Day one of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tournament is in the books and there was plenty of excitement to go around. The high seeds held in both matchups on the campus of UM-Dearborn. Saturday's semifinal games are set for 4 and 7:30 p.m.

Game 1: #4 UM-Dearborn 4, #5 Aquinas 0 | Box Score

 A defensive battle took place for the first two periods before the UM-Dearborn offense came alive in the third to earn the 4-0 win. The Wolverines scored goals in the 13th and 17th minutes, then added two more empty net goals to close out the period and punch a ticket to the semifinal round. UM-Dearborn will take on #1 Indiana Tech on Saturday at 4:00pm.

 Game 2: #3 Lawrence Tech, 7 #6 Rochester Christian 1 | Box Score

 Lawrence Tech broke the scoreless tie with a Hogan McNeish goal in the 15th minute, scored two more in the second, then blew the game open in the third with four goals. Rochester Christian got on the board in the fourth when Nicholas Spognardi found the net. LTU's victory sets them up for a matchup with #2 Cleary on Saturday at 7:30pm.
