Indiana Tech Claims Sixth-Straight Hockey Regular Season Title
For the sixth consecutive season, Indiana Tech Men's Hockey has claimed the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season championship. It came down to the final weekend as Indiana Tech and Cleary were separated by just two points heading into the final two-game series'. With Indiana Tech's win over Aquinas and Cleary's loss to UM-Dearborn on Friday, the Warriors officially clinched the regular season crown and the top-seed in the upcoming WHAC tournament. Cleary, bounced back on Saturday to earn a win and secure the #2 seed and the second first round bye.
Indiana Tech finished the regular season with 45 points in conference action. They tallied a 13-2 record in WHAC regulation contests and a 2-4 record in WHAC overtime/shootout games. Cleary was close behind, finishing with 40 WHAC points and a 12-6 mark in regulation conference action. The Cougars were 2-0 in overtime/shootout WHAC games to round out their 40-point effort. Lawrence Tech used a late-season surge to finish third with 36 points followed by UM-Dearborn with 35 points, Aquinas with 24 and Rochester Christian with zero.
