Kayla Vandermolen of Davenport took WHAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Oct. 5, 2008. A sophomore from Cedar Springs, Mich., Vandermolen helped Davenport University (Mich.) to its best week in program history, posting a 4-2 record on the week and a second-place finish in Golden Eagle Tournament. The setter had 208 assists and 86 digs in six matches as Davenport improved to 10-16 overall with wins over Concordia University (Mich.) (3-2), Spring Arbor University (Mich.) (3-0), Daemen College (N.Y.) (3-2) and Trinity Christian College (Ill.) (3-1). The two losses were at the hands of University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-3) and Illinois Institute of Technology (2-3). For her efforts, Vandermolen was also named to the Golden Eagle All-Tournament team. |
